Nazia Hassan, along with her brother Zohaib Hassan, went on to sell over 60 million records worldwide. Her debut album Disco Deewane (1981) also charted in fourteen countries worldwide and became the best-selling Asian pop record up until that time. Nazia’s father Basir Hassan was a Karachi based businessman and her mother Munizeh Basir was a well known social worker. The song “Aap Jaisa Koi” became a chartbuster instantly and made her a legend and pop icon in South Asia, where she is admired and loved even today, years after her death. ![]() ![]() ![]() Nazia Hassan was fifteen when she did the playback for Zeenat Aman in ‘Qurbani’ (1980).
